Department: Ecology and Evolutionary Biology
We study the evolution of plants (mostly) and bacteria. Undergraduate positions in the lab are rare and typically focused on the bacterial work. In this work, we evolve bacteria in the lab to better understand the processes of evolution. The work usually revolves around bacterial cultures, counting bacterial colonies, and isolating DNA or RNA. Depending on the project, it is likely also to include genetic analysis and quantitative and computational biology.
