For this course the student will get firsthand experience in the day-to-day duties of a clinical based research experimental intervention with human subjects, as well as mentoring and education on the nuanced points of carrying out research with human subjects. As part of this course specific experience will be garnered related to the recruitment, screening, randomization and enrollment, scheduling, data collection, entry and management that occurs in epidemiologic/human trials. They will interact with participants, and UCI staff and faculty.
Requirements to Participate
3 - 4 hours per unit. Minimum 2 units.
Faculty Means of Evaluation
Attendance - 20% (working assigned hours, being on time)
Research work - 50% (Completing assigned duties adhering to research guidelines- with quality and accuracy being important)
Communication - 10% (Questions and discussion with mentor)
Research citizenship - 20% (Communication, Organization, Following through with tasks)
