Research Description

Toxoplasmosis is caused by Toxoplasma gondii and is one of the neglected parasitic diseases in the US. Diagnostic tools are rudimentary and available therapies are more than 50 years old. In my lab, we are interested in elucidating the pathogenesis of congenital toxoplasmosis to help design diagnostic and therapeutic tools. Also, we want to understand how gold-containing drugs work as promising anti-T. gondii agents.
